Beneficiary

The Washington Area Bicyclist Association -- WABA -- is Bike DC’s principal beneficiary. WABA's mission is to create a healthy, more livable region by promoting bicycling for fun, fitness, and affordable transportation; advocating for better bicycling conditions and transportation choices for a healthier environment; and educating children, adults, and motorists about safe bicycling. For over 35 years WABA has been advocating for better and safer bicycling in the Washington region. It has helped to establish one of the most extensive trail networks in the country, linked bicycling with public transit and instructed thousands of area residents of all ages in cycling safety. As a result of these and other efforts, Washington has the seventh highest rate of bicycle usage in the country.
